Linux vs Windows - Conquering a Windows Based World

The French are loading Free Open Source software onto USB sticks and providing it to 175,000 school children as an alternative to proprietary software.  Will be interesting to see if it is adopted, and used effectively.

The keys, which will contain a “portable office” suite of software and other tools, will be given to 130,000 secondary-school pupils and 45,000 first-year apprentices at training centers at the start of the 2007 school year.
