Intel Launches Open Source Project for Mobile Devices

Intel has just started an open source software project for mobile devices. The MOBLIN project.

The Moblin project comprises a Linux kernel, UI framework, browser, multimedia framework, and embedded Linux image creation tools, along with developer resources such as documentation, mailing lists, and an IRC channel.

Oh and BTW all projects are focused on Intel Architecture. :-)

HP, Intel, and IBM Forming Linux Standards Group

The heavy weights are joining forces to create a standards group to further the adoption of Linux in the business world.  Basically they are going to further fund and merge the Open Source Development Labs and the Free Standards Group.

“We will be a vendor-neutral organization capable of responding to competitors’ attacks and FUD,” Zemlin said in an interview Friday. He is the former executive director of the Free Standards Group.
