Will gaming specific RAM boost my laptop gaming performance?
I have a laptop that is said to max out at 4 gigs of RAM. However, this laptop also came installed with Windows Vista 32bit. I am now running Windows 7 64bit and am wondering if it now has the capability of handling more RAM? I looked on Crucial’s website to see the capabilities of my laptop and they unfortunately don’t have my variation on their database. So, can I even put more than 4 gigs of RAM into my laptop? And if not, will switching the max 4gb to 4 gigs of “gaming” memory make a difference in performance?
Btw, this is my laptop:
Acer Aspire 6935G
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5800
GeForce 9600M GT Turbocache
4GB DDR3
320GB HDD
Blu-ray Disc
based on Acer’s Site page for the Aspire 6935G laptop, I would say NO, you cannot. it looks like a Motherboard limitation, and 32 or 64 bit doesn’t matter, with the motherboard bottleneck.
here is exactly what it says:
Processor / Speed – Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T9400/P9500 (6 MB L2 cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 35 W/25 W), T9600 (6 MB L2 cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 35 W) or P7350/P8400/P8600 (3 MB L2 cache, 2/2.26/2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz, 25 W), supporting Intel® 64 architecture
RAM / Max RAM – Up to 2 GB of DDR3 1066 MHz memory, upgradeable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules
Operating System – Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Home Premium
(varies by model)
again, this is from Acer’s web site, and I’m pretty sure they would know what’s in it.
also, it’s upgradeable IF you take out the stick(s) that are already there (2 slots total)
so, final – no, it won’t do any good to go over 4 GBs.
