What a lot of bull feces. The goal is to kill open source off at its roots. Microsoft wants to make sure that young people in developing countries get brainwashed into the Microsoft way of computing.

My take on this: Linux is gaining signification market share in emerging countries.

More than 200 million mobile devices will run a mobile version of the Linux OS by 2012 according to a new report by analyst ABI Research.

Mandriva Linux has been working with Intel for 8 months to create the ClassMatePC, which is a rugged, water-resistant laptop for students in developing countries.

The ClassMatePCs will be produced in Brazil, and are expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of this year. Following the launch, ClassMatePCs running Mandriva Linux 2007 will be available to Mexico, India, and developing countries, Mandriva said. 

Sounds like a great idea, wonder if they’ll sell them in US?
